As King Charles III and Queen Camilla waved to the crowds on the opening day of Royal Ascot (Tuesday 20th June 2023), it was the very first time that His Majesty attended this prestigious quintessentially British event that was started under his distant ancestor Queen Anne, as a Reigning Monarch. As Prince & Princess, Dukes & Duchesses, and Lord & Ladies followed the new sovereign and his consort to the Royal Enclosure, CEO of Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa, Sanjiv Ramdanee was hosting friends, VIPs and media contacts in a neighbouring box and attendees included the King’s cousin, HH Princess Olga Romanoff, who looked very happy to be present for the occasion.

The coincidental timing of the new reign and that of the reopening of Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa could not be more appropriate, since the only villa Resort of the island, part of Leading Hotels of the World is welcoming again its guests on 1st November 2023, where a stunning transformation will be unveiled that is set to redefine luxury and elevate the guest experience to new heights.

The renowned architectural firm HBA from their Singapore office forwards a new bold vision for the resort’s concept. Their expertise transcends boundaries as they also lend their artistic touch to the realm of lighting, ensuring that every corner is bathed in enchanting radiance. Adding to the allure, Site Concept, renowned for their landscaping prowess, passionately transforms the gardens, including the cherished Karo du Chef which is a testament to our commitment to sustainable practices.

As always, friends and business partners of the CEO who have always been ‘Ambassadors’ of the brand joined his luncheon to celebrate this soon to be reopening, with celebrity TV star and author Lady Colin Campbell arriving with her pal etiquette guru Liz Brewer, both wearing the most stylish outfits and matching hats. Simon & Clara ClementDavis, known for their most eccentric house parties on Cheyne Walk in Chelsea were back to Ascot after nearly 20 years and seemed to have the time of their life, taking betting tips from horse owner James Ward who himself was a definite winner of the day. Isabel Kristensen was as always ravishing, wearing one of her most delicate couture pieces with a matching hat that made her get the title of ‘The best dressed Lady of the Royal Enclosure’ by the Evening Standard on that afternoon.

All guests were looking forward to seeing the ‘new’ Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa, this time sipping champagne around their private pools while enjoying a sea view and wearing less conventional straw hats.
