Maradiva’s twenty-year heritage is deeply entrenched in Mauritian cultural origins. It is a Mauritian family owned and managed resort and member of Leading Hotels of the World – a pillar of exclusive luxury hospitality on the island.
Maradiva was inspired by the colonial past of Mauritius with its ancient residences and sugar plantations. The hotel blends naturally with the preserved environment and offers spacious villas where all benefit from a view of the coast, and where lush gardens with colourful endemic plants and trees inspire wellness and serenity.
The Ramdanee family, the owners of Maradiva, have been influential figures in Mauritius’s political, economic, and social spheres. Sir Kailash Ramdanee, the patriarch, was a pioneer in the pharmaceutical industry in the 1970s and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1990. His vision and leadership in creating Maradiva has left an indelible mark on the island’s hospitality industry.
Traditional black basalt of the island, Jaisalmer wood from Rajasthan, Palisander wood from Madagascar, and teak from Burma infuse Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa with an exotic blend of local and Indian design.
In March 2023, Maradiva closed its doors to embark on a renovation that would further embrace its authentic Mauritian heritage for the needs of the contemporary traveller. The result is a minimalistic yet luxurious aesthetic.
Maradiva partnered with internationally renowned firm, Hirsch Bedner Associates, HBA, and local agency, VK Design to bring this vision to life and we re-opened in November 2023.
Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa and its Ayurvedic Spa have been recognised as being the best in the Indian Ocean from well-known travel organisations.
